Experience and Accomplishments
- Responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining HP Proliant BL-series C-class blade servers and DL-series servers.
- Provided support to physical and virtual servers running on multiple versions of Microsoft Windows including Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows 2008.
- Experience as a VMware engineer in both VMware VI3 and vSphere4 and 5 environments. Maintained multiple VMware HA/DRS clusters in multiple, geographically dispersed datacenters.
- Responsible for building and deploying new VMware virtual machines. Experience using VMware templates to decrease engineer time required to deploy machines and ensure a higher-level of standardization.
- Planned and executed VMware SAN migrations of hundreds of virtual servers totaling approximately 35 TB of data with minimal impact and downtime.
- Worked with Storage Engineering team to determine and execute performance testing using VMware vSphere4 and Hitachi USP-V and AMS2500 Fiber-Channel SAN’s. Compiled and presented results which were used by engineers internally working with VMware and Hitachi support personnel to architect a more efficient SAN configuration for VMware servers.
- Experience performing physical-to-virtual (P2V) migrations from HP DL-class servers to VMware virtual machines using VMware Converter.
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM/ConfigMgr).
- Used ConfigMgr to deploy software installation and upgrade packages, and deploy operating system updates to servers.
- Assisted with development and maintenance of automated server build process using ConfigMgr’s Operating System Deployment functionality.
- Created custom scripts to assist with management and maintenance of servers and to increase efficiency of repeated tasks.
- Created documentation around various processes and configurations which I was responsible for. Created new Windows server build standards and build processes documentation to include deployment of Windows Server 2008 and 2012 servers.
